Monochrome Madness

Yes, most of you probably already noticed black&white patterns are trending so hard right now. But I just can't help it. I've been so surprised with 2012's trends: burgundy, leather, velvet, studs... Because those were things I've been loving for a long time and it's really interesting for me to see people interpreting those trends (there were a few over studded disasters but oh well!). Now with the black and white dotted, striped and checkered madness I'm just in heaven right now. To think my friends made fun of me for owning 3 different black&white stripe sweaters ha!

Sim, a maior parte de vocês provavelmente já percebeu que os padrões monocromáticos estão super na moda neste momento. Mas eu não consigo evitar. Fiquei tão surpresa com as tendências de 2012: borgonha, cabedal, veludo, tachas... Porque eram coisas que já adorava há bastante tempo e foi bastante interessante ver tantas pessoas a intrepertar essas tendências à sua maneira (aconteceram alguns desastres com "demasiadas" tachas, mas pronto!). Agora com a loucura às bolinhas, riscas e xadrez monocromático estou no céu! E pensar que os meus amigos gozam comigo por ter 3 camisolas às riscas pretas e brancas ha!

I love those polkadot shorts (nastygal) unfortunately I can't justify buying them as I already own 2 polkadot dresses (black with white dots/ white with black dots - insanity)
The skirt (Romwe) is just amazing. It's a tweed skirt with a houndstooth pattern. C'mon.
The striped sweater (Pull&Bear) and dress (H&M) have this really cool optical illusion feeling to them which makes them statement pieces by themselves.
I tend to find animal prints kinda tacky but that leopard (i think) sweater (Pull&Bear) is so amazing, the pattern looks more like a twisted version of kiss stains. It went on sale a few days ago and now I can't find it :(


I find it pretty daring to clash different styles of patterns, but you can't go wrong with black&white because it's a perfect color combo: simple, fresh and put together. A red lip will be the cherry on top. I'll leave you guys with some inspiration.

Eu acho bastante corajoso contrastar dois padrões diferentes num outfit, mas é difícil errar com preto&branco porque é uma combinação cromática perfeita: simples, moderno e sofisticado. Lábios vermelhos é a cereja no topo. Deixo-vos com alguma inspiração.

I'm so much in love with the new Topshop collection Witching Hour
The nu-witch look isn't exactly new on the fashion scene but i think they managed to put together some great pieces (not over studded or spiked) with great colors and textures.

O look nu-wicth não é exactamente uma novidade mas acho que conseguiram um conjunto de peças muito interessantes (não com demasiadas tachas) com cores e texturas lindas.

I gotta say my favorite one is probably the skeleton dress. I love the sheer skirt and the sort of baroque embroidery (also that flapper cut). It's by Tee and Cake which had a very famous skeleton bodycon dress already but i feel like this one is the "grown up" version. Also those brocade tights would look so badass with any outfit (I would pair them with the skirt and shirt next to them). I also think that the fact that topshop included some fun halloweenish acessories like the devil head band is super adorable and gives the collection an extra coolness.

Tenho a dizer que a minha peça favorita é provavelmente o vestido esqueleto. Adoro a saia transparente e o bordado estilo barroco (e também o corte à flapper). É da marca Tee and Cake que já tinha um vestido esqueleto estilo bodycon muito famoso mas eu sinto que este é a versão "adulta". As collants com bordado também são um favorito, quão incrível iam ficar com qualquer oufit? (eu usava-as com a camisa e a saia ao lado delas no set) Também acho que o facto da Topshop ter incluído acessórios divertidos com uma vibe halloweenesca, como a bandolete com cornos, é super adorável e dá uma extra coolness à colecção.

#1 Fall Wishlist

Even though it still feels like summer i've been checking some new collections (or not) and there's some stuff i'm loving right now!
Black lace kimonos- even though they don't offer much protection against the cold i think they would be a great light jacket for me this season. so easy to dress up or wear with a casual outfit.
studded shorts- yes high waisted black distressed shorts with spikes. cliche much? yes but they're amazing!
studded loafers- i know everything will be studs and spikes this season. I still love it but i'm liking the pieces with the subtle details like these shoes with studs at the back.
biker boots- always a classic.
lilac hair -  i'm thinking about ditching my pink ends for some lilac. what do you guys think?
baby blue dress - doesn't quite seem to fit in this set. I tried it the other day and found it so sweet i couldn't resist to add it here.

new bag - i like this style. the grey jersey material gives it a cool edgy vibe.
comme des fuckdown* beanie - i just love the brand. It's really smart and cool and i like the message it stands for. Also A$ap Rocky usually sports clothing from this brand and he's the dopest rapper fashionwise.

Heat Wave

It's been hard dealing with this intense weather lately! In Lisbon we had our hottest day yesterday (40ºC) and let me tell you guys it was so NOT funny. I spent the day reaching for the most refreshing (if one can say so) clothes that i could find and eventually i got dressed in chiffon h&m shorts from last year's collection (featured on this fashion set) and a cropped tee. So much better. So i put together a set including all my favorite silhouettes and fabrics for crazy hot days.
Chiffon, lace, crochet sheer tops are a must for me. With cut outs, open back, no sleeves, cropped... you know trying to be as naked as possible without going out wearing only wearing a bikini! Shorts are great too i find them better then skirts for this kind of weather strangely. Also from a fashion point of view if you're wearing a crazy sheer top shorts will make the outfit more casual!

Tem sido difícil lidar com este calor instenso ultimamente! Em Lisboa tivemos o nosso dia mais quente ontem (40ºC) e deixem que vos diga não foi NADA divertido. Eu passei o dia à procura das minhas roupas mais frescas e eventualmente acabei a vestir uns calções de chiffon  da colecção da H&M do ano passado e uma -shirt tipo cropped. Muito melhor. Inspirada por isso criei um set que inclui as minhas silhuetas e tecidos favoritos para dias incrivelmente quentes.
Chiffon, renda, croché e tops transparentes são ua necessidade para mim. Com aberturas de ombros, costas abertas, sem mangas, cropped... vocês sabem, tentar estar o mais nua possível sem sair à rua só de bikini! Calções são óptimos também! Eu acho-os mais confortáveis e frescos que saias para este tipo de tempo curiosamente. E de um ponto de vista mais fashion eles tornam um top incrivelmente transparente muito mais casual!

Personally i love sheer knee high socks.
1. sheer tights + knee high socks ( two great loves of mine)
2. they create interest in a simple outfit, specially an all black one.
3. great for a summer night out
4. can dress them up with cute peep toe shoes or down with casual flats

Pessoalmente adoro meias até ao joelho transparentes.
1. collants transparentes + meias até ao joelho (dois grandes amores meus)
2. criam um interesse num outfit simples, especialmente se for um todo em preto.
3. óptimas para uma noite de verão
4. podem ficar mais elaboradas com os sapatos altos peep toe e mais casuais com sapatilhas simples pretas!
I know they can get a lil bit "slutty" sometimes and they're not everyone's cup of tea. But if styled correctly they can look awesome. Remember Marni Fall 2010?

I recently bought some some plain sheer socks from this brand and they're pretty good. They usually come in sets of 3 which is great because i already ripped one of them... (be careful with your nails).

Recentemente comprei um par simples transparente desta marca e são bastante boas. Normalmente vêm em packs de 3 pares o que é óptimo visto que já fiz uma malha num deles... (cuidado com as unhas!)

Staple #1 - The skater skirt

Hey guys!
For months i've been looking for a "go to" black skirt that i could dress up or dress down very easily. I have a lot of skater dresses so i knew this was the best silhouette for what i had in mind. It's a very flattering shape (to all body  types i believe)  feminine yet simple because it shows your body but not as much as a bodycon skirt would. I finally found the perfect skirt in topshop and i've been loving it! I created some outfit options based on how I've been wearing it.

Besides Topshop ASOS is another online store that usually has a lot of skirts in this style. Oddly enough I couldn't find any black skater skirt in Lisbon. I tried Zara, Pull&Bear, Primark and Bershka and there were a lot of floral skirts but none in a block colour. Of course these shops aren't exactly cheap and buying them online means that we will have to add shipping costs but when buying a staple piece you have to remember that you'll get a lot of use from it so the most important is the quality of your item and that you're 100% happy with it.

Also just because it's a staple piece doesn't mean it has to be black. Nastygal another online shop has some lovely neon skater skirts. Unfortunately their price is out of my range ah! But some of you might like it.
